   Mesoscale Discussion 0057
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0743 AM CST Wed Feb 07 2018

   Areas affected...south-central and east-central AL...west-central GA

   Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely

   Valid 071343Z - 071445Z

   Probability of Watch Issuance...20 percent

SUMMARY...A few localized strong gusts (45-60 mph) are possible over
   the next few hours.

DISCUSSION...Radar data show a couple of stronger thunderstorm cores
near Montgomery and embedded within an extensive southwest to
northeast thunderstorm line. A few stronger gusts are possible with
the line where small-scale bowing segments intermittently surge
east. As this portion of the line moves into western GA, cooler
surface temperatures will tend to limit the spatial extent for
   wind-gust potential.

A few corridors of developing convection south of the band will
likely remain weak in character in the near term given the weak
instability present. However, as heating occurs this morning across
southeast AL, this convection may intensify. Will monitor
convective trends during the morning for a possible intensification
of this activity. In summary, both convective scenarios appear
marginal in intensity/coverage to preclude a severe thunderstorm
   watch for the time being.
