   SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 15
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   600 PM CDT WED APR 1 2015

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     WESTERN IOWA
     NORTH-CENTRAL KANSAS
     EASTERN AND SOUTH-CENTRAL NEBRASKA
     EXTREME SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA

   * EFFECTIVE THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY MORNING FROM 600 PM
     UNTIL 100 AM CDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE
     ISOLATED LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE

   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 65
   STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 40 MILES EAST
   SOUTHEAST OF HILL CITY KANSAS TO 10 MILES NORTHEAST OF SPENCER
   IOWA.  FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE ASSOCIATED

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

   DISCUSSION...THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE IN COVERAGE AND
   INTENSITY THIS EVENING INTO TONIGHT AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT SWEEPING
   EAST ACROSS THE REGION.  LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WIND GUSTS WILL BE
   THE PRIMARY HAZARDS WITH THESE STORMS.

   AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
   TO 1.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60
   KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 450. MEAN STORM
   MOTION VECTOR 24030.
