   TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 17
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   215 AM EST TUE FEB 16 2016

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST FLORIDA
     COASTAL WATERS

   * EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY MORNING FROM 215 AM UNTIL 800 AM EST.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     A COUPLE TORNADOES POSSIBLE
     ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE

   SUMMARY...BAND OF THUNDERSTORMS MOVING INLAND FROM GULF...AND
   PERHAPS SOME STORMS DEVELOPING AHEAD OF IT INLAND...WILL POSE A
   DAMAGING-WIND AND TORNADO THREAT THROUGH THE SUNRISE HOUR.  SEE SPC
   MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 111 FOR INITIAL METEOROLOGICAL DETAILS.

   THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 55 STATUTE
   MILES EITHER SIDE OF A LINE FROM 50 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF
   SARASOTA FLORIDA TO 10 MILES NORTH OF VERO BEACH FLORIDA.  FOR A

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
   TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.
