   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   620 PM EST WED FEB 24 2016

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA
     FAR NORTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA
     COASTAL WATERS

   * EFFECTIVE THIS WEDNESDAY EVENING FROM 620 PM UNTIL 1100 PM EST.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     A FEW TORNADOES AND A COUPLE INTENSE TORNADOES LIKELY
     SCATTERED DAMAGING WINDS LIKELY WITH ISOLATED SIGNIFICANT GUSTS
       TO 75 MPH POSSIBLE

   SUMMARY...SCATTERED SUPERCELLS WITH THE THREAT FOR TORNADOES...ONE
   OR TWO OF WHICH COULD BE STRONG...IN ADDITION TO DAMAGING WIND AND
   SEVERE HAIL EXPECTED TO PERSIST THROUGH LATER TONIGHT EASTWARD TO
   THE NORTH CAROLINA COASTAL WATERS.

   THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 80 STATUTE
   MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 20 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF
   ELIZABETH CITY NORTH CAROLINA TO 30 MILES SOUTH OF WILMINGTON

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
   TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.
