   SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 286
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   505 PM CDT THU JUN 11 2015

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     SOUTHWEST KANSAS
     EXTREME NORTHWEST OKLAHOMA INCLUDING THE PANHANDLE
     NORTHERN TEXAS PANHANDLE

   * EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY AFTERNOON FROM 505 PM UNTIL MIDNIGHT
     CDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE
     ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE

   SUMMARY...THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE IN COVERAGE AND
   INTENSITY FROM WEST TO EAST ACROSS THE WATCH AREA THIS AFTERNOON
   INTO EVENING.  WHILE A BRIEF TORNADO IS POSSIBLE...LARGE HAIL AND
   DAMAGING OUTFLOW WINDS WILL BE THE PRIMARY HAZARDS.

   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 60
   STATUTE MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 40 MILES NORTHWEST
   OF DALHART TEXAS TO 20 MILES EAST SOUTHEAST OF DODGE CITY KANSAS.

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.
